Double Southwest Points on All Flights

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners, such as American Express. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here. Additionally, some of the offers on this page may no longer be available through Deals We Like.

Between February 4th and May 14th you’ll receive double points on ALL Southwest flights you take! While this is a great promotion, the one kicker is that you must have registered for the promotion PRIOR to booking your flight. Now, if you’ve already booked your flight and the price has not increased, you can cancel your flight and re-book – just make sure to not change the flight as you will need a new reservation number. If your flight has gone up 10% than the bonus points earned will break even. If the flight has gone up less than 10% in price, you will earn more bonus points than the amount extra paid, but it is up to you if it is worth it.

With this promotion you will earn the following points:

  • Wanna Get Away Fares: 12 points per dollar spent (instead of 6 points)
  • Anytime Fares: 20 points per dollar spent (instead of 10 points)
  • Business Select Fares: 24 points per dollar spent (instead of 12 points)

Unfortunately, the bonus points earned will not count toward A-List, A-List Preferred, and Companion Pass qualification. During this time, the total points earned from a Wanna Get Away fare can be thought of as a 20% rebate towards future travel. If you were contemplating using points for future travel instead of paying for the flight, I’d suggest paying for it. Keep in mind though you will not have the same perks if you need to cancel the flight or if the cost of the flight goes down in price.

Additionally, if you are flying into our out of Milwaukee, you will earn double Tier Qualifying Points. Just registering for the promotion mentioned above will automatically register you for this promotion as well.

I’m not having any luck signing up for the double-miles Southwest promo using the link provided. Is there a way to find it via their website?

: The longer link looked as if it would work, leading to a page with a selection of 2 promotions. The hotel selection worked, but the SWA double-points selection gave this error message:
“Your session has expired. Click here to book travel or go back to the homepage. Reference code: SW400003 Occurred on: 02/06/2013 10:17:08”
