I’m very into money saving apps for my everyday purchases! I have a bunch of them and I am constantly getting receiving notifications that I received cash back on a purchase I made (which I would have made regardless). While I’ve written about many of them in the past, such as Ibotta and Drop, I have yet to write about Dosh.
You Get $7 off the Bat!
By downloading the app and linking two credit cards, you’ll automatically receive $7 in your account – $5 for downloading and then a $1 per linked card (up to 2 linked cards). So even if you really do not think you’ll use the app much, this is an easy way to make a few quick bucks.
How Does it Work?
Once you download the app, you’ll link your credit cards (I personally linked all the cards I use) and every time your linked card is used at a participating merchant you’ll receive cash back. Unlike some other apps, you do not need to activate an offer, use a promo code, scan your receipt, or really do anything. Just go about your normal purchases and viola – cash back will eventually appear.
There are a ton of participating merchants, some for in-store purchases while others are for online only. However, for many of the online purchase options you’ll need to go to the merchants website through the Dosh link – similar to an online shopping portal. In my local area there are actually a bunch of restaurants where I’ll receive 7% cash back! And there are a few that I eat at often. I gladly welcome cash back while eating out, especially when it is something I’m going to do anyways!
As I mentioned above, I personally linked all my credit cards so I do not need to think about it when making a purchase. I sort of forget the app exists and then am pleasantly surprised (and happy!) when I receive cash back. I have never made a purchase or selected a certain restaurant just for the cash back, so I am never spending more money to save money. And since this is cash back, you can combine this with any other promotion you run across – i.e., in-store/restaurant coupon, Amex Offer, bonus points/miles, etc.
Cashing Out
Getting your cash back is quite easy. Once you’ve hit a minimum of $15, you can request to be paid. They will transfer funds either to your bank account or PayPal. The app is extremely user friendly!

Three cards I attempted to add errored off, indicating they are registered at yelp.com (not sure that is even correct) and I have to unregister them on yelp and come back to Dosh.
