Earn Hyatt Status Much 3x Quicker with the Hyatt Credit Card

Hyatt just launched a pretty awesome promotion for Haytt credit card members looking to earn Hyatt status. Between September 1 and December 30, 2017, stay the required number of nights detailed below, you’ll earn the designated status through February 2019:

  • Explorist status: Complete 10 nights (typically this status requires 30 nights)
  • Globalist status: Complete 20 nights (typically this status requires 60 nights)

Earlier this year Hyatt drastically increased the number of nights you needed to earn status (and no longer count stays as a way to earn status). They also changed the names of the status levels and the benefits you receive at each level. There were some pros and cons, but overall people pretty much weren’t too happy. Earning status going forward was going to be incredibly difficult. So this is a nice promotion to allow to you earn status that you originally thought you wouldn’t earn! And the great thing about earning status with Hyatt is that award stays now DO count.

To be eligible for this promotion you must REGISTER by September 30, 2017. You do not currently need to be a Hyatt credit card holder, but must have the credit card by registration date (if you are looking to apply for the card).

New Cardmembers are eligible for the promotion as long as they register with their World of Hyatt membership number by September 30, 2017. Cardmembers do not need to cancel and rebook existing reservations.

If you are able to earn status through this fast track promotion, just keep in mind that you will not earn all the benefits of the status you earned. For Globalist status, you earn certain benefits once you stay 60 nights at a Hyatt property. This means if you earn Hyatt status another way (for example, through this promotion) you will not earn these benefits since you haven’t actually completed 60 nights. That means if you earn Globalist status through this promotion, you will not earn the four confirmed suite upgrades or the category 1-7 free night award. Having Globalist status can still get you upgraded (even to a suite) at a Hyatt property, but it is based on availability upon arrival.

My Take…

I personally already have Hyatt Globalist status through February 2019 so I will not be chasing status through this promotion. But for those that have the Hyatt credit card and stay at Hyatt hotels a decent amount, this could be a great way to earn status. I really do love Hyatt properties and do believe they take care of those with status, so I do recommend counting your upcoming Hyatt stays and see if this promotion will work for you.

Will this promotion help you reach your desired status?!
