Earlier this week American Express announced another syncing promotion where if you spend $250 at Best Buy you will receive a $25 statement credit. I did some research this morning to see how you all can maximize this promotion and although the terms state “Offer excludes Best Buy Express, Gift Cards, e-gift cards & standalone Pacific Sales stores”, I have an inclination that gift card purchases will work, although I haven’t personally confirmed it myself. This promotion is valid for online or in-store purchases and expires September 8, 2013. Keep in mind though, that if you place an order online and it doesn’t ship right away, the billing to your credit card might be delayed which means it will not trigger the statement credit.
Like all other Amex sync promotions, this is only valid for those with an American Express credit card. You then must register for this promotion via Twitter (by tweeting #AmexBestBuy) or saving the offer in your AmericanExpress.com account (by going to the “My Offers” tab).
While this is a Best Buy offer, the title of this post states “iTunes, Facebook, and Amazon.com” as well. That is because most Best Buy include gift cards for purchase, so you can purchase a $250 gift card (or increments that add up to this amount) and that will trigger the $25 statement credit. My local Best Buy does not carry American Express and Visa gift cards, but I know last time this promotion ran (July 2012), some commented on my post that they had luck at their local store. For Amazon.com gift cards you’d gave to purchase the Kindle gift cards as they actually work on Amazon.com purchase and is not limited to books.
So this is great for you to pre-buy to use at another time or if you have a gift to give someone. Also, as I mentioned earlier, this is valid for purchases online or in store, so if you make the purchase online, use one of the online shopping portals to increase your savings!
I also received an email from Best Buy this morning that they are having a two day sale, Friday and Saturday, so might want to check it out. iTunes $100 gift cards are also only $85, although limited to one per order.

Between my wife and I, we have five Amex cards, but I only found the BestBuy offer on the website for one of them (PRG). Our Amex Hilton and Amex SPG cards didn’t list it. Do you think this is actually card-specific, or maybe it takes a while for the offer to get rolled out to everyone?
@keith c – it is not card specific as mine shows up on my Amex SPG card account. The ones were it doesn’t show up, sync it to twitter and then register that way. Sign up for multiple twitter accounts
Best Buy is a LIII reporting merchant so Amex can see exactly what you bought. But BB gift cards are very legal and one can try ….
Ah, thanks for the reminder. It’s been so long, I had lost track of which cards I had synced, and what mechanism I had used (Twitter, FourSquare, Facebook). Too many dummy accounts for my handful of Amex cards 🙂
This offer is getting a LOT of thumbs up on forums, but how can it be maximized? Purchasing Amazon Kindle gift cards and receiving Best Buy points as well as credit card points will result in an additional 10% savings, but can this be used online to go through a shopping portal? Am I missing something? Thanks.
