Welcome to another post of helping a reader travel!
This weekly post is to help readers get a ton of travel advice from thousand of Deals We Like blog readers. Thus far, we’ve been able to help other readers travel to a slew of domestic and international destinations. Check out recent destinations and comment on suggestions here.
So this weeks travel destination includes Portugal. I received the following email from reader Joe:
“My partner and I are looking to do a week long trip in Portugal and would love some travel suggestions. We are renting a car and want to cover as much as the country as possible. Where would you suggest we go and how many days in each location?”
So let’s help out reader Joe and I am sure many other Deals We Like readers with a recommended one week itinerary of Portugal. The next few weeks I’ll do specific posts on the major spots to go throughout the country, such as Lisbon, Porto, Lagos, etc. Or any other spots you suggest.
Also, if you have any upcoming travel where you need some help, feel free to email me at dealswelike@gmail.com to be a featured “Help a Reader Travel” Monday special. Thanks!

To hit up all the “big” spots of Portugal, I’d suggest: 2 days in Porto; a day trip to hit up Aveiro/Coimbra/Coastline; 3 days in Lisbon (including 1 day devoted to Sintra); 1.5 day in Algarve.
I’d recommend picking up a couple of guide books before you leave (we used Rick Steves for inner-city walking map suggestions and Lonely Planet for food/stay/transportation).
You both will have an amazing time!
Loved porto. Would highly recommend a day trip to duoro valley to learn about port and to taste.
