Hyatt’s Black Friday promotion is here where you can purchase Hyatt gift cards at a 10% discount. It is rare that Hyatt ever discounts their gift cards, so this could be a great opportunity to stay at Hyatt hotels for slightly less. To take advantage of this offer, you’ll want to apply the promotion code WINTER19 at checkout.

hyatts black friday promotion will give you a hyatt gift card discount

Hyatt will actually be offering this promotion twice over the next month: Nov. 29 through Dec. 2 and Dec. 20 through 23. A nice Thanksgiving and holiday gift for all! You can purchase between $25 and $2,000 in a single gift card and you are capped at purchasing $10,000 worth of gift cards per day.

Although Hyatt gift cards do not expire, there have been some unfortunate stories Hyatt gift cards getting hacked and having a zero balance at checkout. You also will not be able to use the gift card on pre-paid stays as you can only redeem them during the checkout process and not when making your reservation. Hyatt gift cards can be redeem at participating Hyatt properties in North America, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and South America.

If you have an upcoming stay this absolutely could be the perfect opportunity to get an extra 10% off your stay. Just keep in mind though that you’ll be forgoing any points earned if you were to use the World of Hyatt credit card that earns 4x Hyatt points or the Chase Sapphire Reserve card that earns 3x points on travel. Since I value Hyatt points and Chase Ultimate Reward points to be worth about 2 cents per point, that would be an 8% or 6% return on your stay (although in points). Still the 10% off is better and you are getting the cash back in your pocket right away. But there are risk with gift cards, such as them getting lost or hacked.

Will you be purchasing discounted Hyatt gift cards during this Hyatt Black Friday sale?

Given the risk of losing or having your Hyatt gift cards hacked, I’d say better to hold off and then pay for your future stays with your Chase (Hyatt or Sapphire Reserve) Visa card, as noted above. A 10% discount seems kinda meh, although a 20% discount would move the needle for me.
