Update: This offer is no longer available.

If you have a World of Hyatt Credit Card, you are in luck! Hyatt just announced an incredibly easy way to earn 5,000 points simply by using your credit card. With this promotion, the more swipes you make, the more points you earn. And although it might look like you have to use your card quite a bit during the month to maximize the promotion, it is actually quite easy. You must register for this promotion by Feb. 28, 2021.

The number of points you earned is based on the number of swipes you make between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28, 2021:

  • 10 transactions = 1,000 bonus points
  • 15 transactions = 1,000 bonus points
  • 25 transactions = 2,500 bonus points
  • 50+ transactions = 5,000 bonus points

Maximizing the promotion

Now, you’re probably saying to yourself that there is no way you usually use your credit card 50 times within the month. And for most people, that is probably true — especially given that February is a short month.

However, Amazon makes it incredibly easy to purchase gift cards in all increment amounts.

Now, only purchases over $1.00 will count. But, Amazon makes it incredibly easy to purchase gift cards in all increment amounts. With this promotion only purchases over $1.00 will count, so you can easily make fifty $1.01 gift card purchases.

Once you purchase the gift card, you can then easily load the amount into your Amazon account so you don’t have to worry about losing the email.

My recommendation is to use the card throughout the month and then at the end of the month, if you need any more transactions, Amazon is an easy route to maximize the points earned.

Overall

While 5,000 bonus points won’t get you a free night stay at a luxury resort all on its own, it will get you a free night at a category 1 property, or can be added to your account balance to redeem anyway you desire. I personally value Hyatt points at around 2 cents apiece, so this promotion is worth around $100 in my books.

The amazon window could also get closed towards the end of the month.

Do you even need to purchase a gift card? Would a simple reload work? It would bypass an extra step.

Looks like a typo above… 15 transactions should = 1,500 (not 1,000) points. Second, are you sure Amazon gift card purchases qualify? The offer terms state:

“Whether you’re making in-person purchases at the grocery store, automatic payments on bills or even contactless payments at your local café, you can earn with every purchase of more than $1.”

“Purchases” do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers, or similar cash-like transactions,…”

Seems like the mention of “in-person purchases” and exclusion of “cash-like transactions” would mean gift card purchases don’t qualify.

I registered for the Hyatt offer and was thinking that there is no way I would get the 5,000 Hyatt points because 50 credit card uses is a lot, especially when I can earn more points with my other cards. The Amazon idea is fantastic. I sat with my iPad and made 50 different $1.10 purchases towards reloading my Amazon gift card. I know your article said $1.01 but the additional $4.50 I added won’t last long. Now I’ll just have to wait and see if it works. Thank you for the great idea.

While the wording at the top of the promotion page states “every purchase of more than $1”, the Terms &Conditions state “make a required number of purchases that are each $1.00 or more”. Dan’s Deals says to go by the T&Cs of $1.00.

I hope he’s right because I have done 21 transactions of $1. I have printed out the sheet to dispute with Hyatt if points don’t post.

Just a question, has anyone actually seen these points post? I made 53 purchases of $1.01 or greater before the end of February. I have not seen any points post yet
