Hyatt just announced their first promotion of the year, and I must say, it is about time! This promotion starts today, February 15 and will run through May 15, 2019. With this promotion you can earn a maximum of 75,000 bonus points, broken out by the following:

  • Earn 1,000 bonus points per night at Hyatt hotels, including M Life properties and participating Small Luxury Hotels of the World
  • Plus, earn an extra 500 bonus points per night when you stay at a Hyatt Place or Hyatt House property

With this promotion, you are capped at 50 nights, which means you can earn 50,000 points maximum for your stays at Hyatt/M Life/SLH and then another 25,000 points max for stays at Hyatt Place/Hyatt House hotels.

What I Love About This Promotion

I love that this promotion is based on nights and not stays. This means for longer stays you will actually be compensated appropriately—and the points can absolutely add up!

I also like that all stays count, not just revenue stays. If you are using points for a free night stay, you are also eligible to earn the bonus points for every night you stay.

What I Do Not Like About This Promotion

I personally hate promotions where you do not start earning points until your 2nd stay, and this is one of those times. This means if you have a week long stay starting today, for example, you will not earn any bonus points on your stay. This is definitely a downfall and might make you reconsider how you spend your first stay that takes place during the timeframe.

Overall…

This is a decent promotion. Not one where I’d switch all my stays to Hyatt for, but a nice perk for stays you already have scheduled. Just remember to register for this promotion by March 31, 2019 to receive your bonus points. Now that my family has committed to Hyatt for the year, this will be a nice addition to our account balance over the next 3 months. This will probably add another 15,000 points our way—enough for a free night stay at a category 4 property.

Your headline says “ per stay” but you say it is “per night” in the article.

You say that all stays count. Would that include the annual free night from the Chase Hyatt credit card?

I have a Hyatt place and a Hyatt House stay already on the books in March for work trips. Because of this post, I found a local category 1 Hyatt to stay overnight this weekend so I can get the bonus on the bonus on the first 7-night business stay in March. Overall I think I’ll get 13k bonus pts (after the 5k spend for the first stay) rather than 6k for the second stay. Thanks for the tip!
