IHG is back with offering another Accelerate promotion, and like every other time, the offer that you personally receive will be targeted to your specific account. With that being said, it seems like everyone is eligible for some sort of promotion, some might just be better than others. This promotion will run January 1 through April 15, 2017.

To see your unique promotion, you’ll need to register here. You’ll have to complete specific tasks to earn bonus points for every eligible stay (make sure to read the terms per task to ensure your rate qualifies).

My personal offer is somewhat okay. It will actually only require three nights to earn the 30,000 points. Not something I am personally going to take advantage of, but depending on your travel and the tasks required it might be a great offer for you! My husband’s offer actually requires 18 nights to earn 34,000 points which is ridiculous!

ihg accelerate promotionRemember, some “tasks” overlap, so one stay might check multiple boxes. For my offer, if I complete 3 nights all at a Holiday Inn hotel, and have two of the nights during one stay over the weekend (the other stay of one night can be any time during the week), and both stays using the member exclusive discount, I’ll complete all the tasks. I’ll also need to download and sign into the IHG app which is extremely easy. Since Holiday Inn hotels are relatively cheap, I could probably accomplish these three nights at a total of $250ish. The 30,000 points is worth about $150 (maybe a little more), so it is definitely not mattress run worthy.

As I mentioned above, I will not be taking advantage of this promotion. I personally do not have any planned stays during this time. At the minimum I’ll download the IHG app and get 500 points.

Anyone else targeted for another offer?

If I book and stay once (for 3,000) in the DC major market (for 2,400) in January (for 1,000) and pay with IHG credit (for 1,500) I will complete 3 of 4 (for 17,100). This makes 25,000 total for one night.

As to the 8 nights (for 16,000) – forget it.

So, not the most points I ever got from IHG, but the easiest.

My offer requires 20 nights, to earn 37400 pts.
Not nearly as good an offer as others got.
But it’s enough bonus points for 2 to 7 free nights (2 at my normal 15,000 price, or 7 if I used Point Break hotels).
Trouble is, I just don’t have any travel coming up this spring… certainly not 20 hotels in the next 17 weeks!
