Unfortunately this is not good news. JetBlue has decided to increase their baggage fees $5. So instead of the first bag costing $25, you’ll pay $30, and if you have to check a second bag instead of paying $35, you’ll pay $40. Not only that, if you need to check a third bag, you’ll pay $150 for that bag (up for $100!). Baggage fees are getting ridiculously expensive and is definitely something you need to consider when comparing flight prices.
I am definitely disappointed to see this since JetBlue was one of the last airlines to still not charge for checked bags. Over the past few years they moved over to the dark side and just keep on increasing the fees. It looks like the exact date on when these fees will increase is still TBD but will be at some point next week. Tickets purchased prior to the change taking place though should take on the old pricing though. 
2 Ways to Get Free Checked Luggage
Being able to check your luggage is even more important these days and there are two ways to get the fees waived:

- Mosaic status:Â If you have JetBlue Mosaic status you and everyone else on your itinerary can check both the first and second bag for free.
- The JetBlue Plus Credit Card:Â If you have the JetBlue Plus credit card and use it to pay for your flight (the one that comes with an annual fee) you and up to 3 companions on your itinerary will receive your first checked bag for free.
With all the increases in fees, not just baggage fees, but change fees, seat selection fees, etc. amongst all the airlines, it makes me love Southwest even more!

Wow. I travel for business and often check between 8 and 25 large cases. Whenever I shop for air, I have to take into consideration the cost of bags as part of my total. While a few US carriers offer media baggage, Jetblue is not one of them, which prohibits my ability to fly with them unless I’m flying for pleasure.
Sadly I forsee that additional US carriers will follow suit.
