If you’ve been on Jetsetter.com recently, you’ve probably noticed that you cannot book a hotel directly through them. Instead, they will aggregate a few other hotel sites giving you the price at each site (for that particular hotel) and recommend the best one. At one point in life, Jetsetter actually brought great deals (I’ve definitely used them for a few boutique properties), but those days are now over.
For those of you who have credits or gift cards with Jetsetter, you are no longer able to use them through the Jetsetter site online. But, if you download the Jetsetter app, you can still book and use credits through August 15th (although that date might end up being August 20th). I personally wish they sent out an email notifying folks of this change, but I guess they aren’t screaming out “go use your credits and spend our money!” If you do go ahead and make a reservation through their app, make sure to use promo code GIVE5. This will give you 5% off your reservation.
Hopefully this helps a few of you now lose some credits you’ve earned or gift cards you’ve purchased.

This is remarkably helpful! I have a very significant credit at Jetsetter and had no idea about this!!
@ian – Great!
I received an email on July 26th that they wouldn’t be doing direct bookings anymore effective August 1st. Not sure if people with credits got anything else, but they did send an email.
@David – Thanks for letting me know. I just re-checked my email and unfortunately do not have an email from them. But hopefully most folks received some sort of communication!
I had several thousand dollars of jetsetter credit that disappeared. Like you I received no email or notification whatsoever. When I logged in to my account I could not find the credit. No alerts. Nothing in their FAQ. I guess they intentionally want to make it really hard to figure out. Fortunately google directed me to your blog post, and after googling “Jetsetter August 1st” (thanks to David’s comment) I found this:

Apparently you can email them re. unused credits. My guess is they will transfer the credit to secret escapes (to whom jetsetter was outsourcing their bookings).
Just a follow up. Jetsetter has refused to respond to my emails re. my missing gift card credits. Tried to escalate via twitter and facebook to no avail. Even tried to contact their parent company (tripadvisor) to see of corporate could escalate. Completely blown off for the last 2 months. Ended up filing a FTC complaint today. If anyone has other suggestions I’d appreciate it.
@HikerT – I sent you an email.
