This is just a friendly reminder that today is the last day to apply for the British Airways Avios 100,000 point credit card offer. You can learn more about the offer in this previous post and read up on some of the pros/cons. While I originally thought you had till tomorrow, it seems like today is in fact the last day (however, it could still be available tomorrow and there after as we’ve seen before with offers that were supposed to be pulled). If you are on the fence I would suggest considering it today. There will not be a better offer in the future, but hopefully we’ll see this 100k point offer again next year (fingers crossed at least!).

I skipped this offer last year, however, will be applying today to earn these additional points. I highly suggest looking at my previous post on my personal favorite top 10 redemption opportunities for using your British Airways Avios points to figure out if this card will work for you. A few ideas on how I will personally use these points:
- Short-haul trips throughout the US via partner American Airline (short-haul trips are just 4,500 points each way!). Mr. Deals was actually able to redeem 4,500 points on a flight from JFK to Montreal that would have originally cost over $200 – that is over 4 cents per point! I will also be highly considering the direct JFK to Vail flight for winter skiing as tickets are super expensive for this flight and flying to Denver is a pain. This flight only requires 20,000 points roundtrip and $5 in taxes/fees!
- Trip to South America since taxes/fees and the number of points needed are low. I have yet to go to South America, so this is extremely high on my list!
- Coach flight from Boston to Dublin on Air Lingus for 25,000 points roundtrip in economy (taxes are also low). While paid prices for this trip have decreased significantly, this is still a great usage of points overall.
- Transferring my points to the Iberia Avios program at a 1:1 ratio to fly direct from New York to Barcelona. This will only cost me 40,000 points in coach and relatively low taxes at around $140. I absolutely loved Barcelona when I was there a few months ago and cannot wait to go back and show Mr. Deals the sights. If you haven’t yet created an Iberia account and are interested in this option, I highly suggest creating one now as you need to wait 3 months after account opening to transfer points
Also a reminder that there are two different offers for this promotion:
- Promotion #1: 50,000 points after your first purchase, 25,000 points after spending $10,000 on your card within the first year, and 25,000 points for spending another $10,000 on your card within the first year. This will give you a total number of 100,000 points after $20,000 in spend within the first year. Annual fee is $95.
- Promotion #2: 50,000 points after your first purchase, and another 50,000 points after your first card anniversary. This will give you a total of 100,000 points with no minimum spend required, but you must have the card for 2 years, thus paying the annual fee twice. You will also need to wait a full year to actually have the points in your account. There is no official link for this offer and the only way to see an advertisement for it is to make a mock British Airways reservation and look out for the ad during this process. You do not actually have to make a reservation. This is great for those that will not be able to spend $20,000 on their card within the first year (like me!). The annual fee this route is $75.
And one last reminder with Chase applications – if you’ve applied for another Chase card recently, chances are you will be denied initially with your online application. If that happens, just call the reconsideration line at 888-245-0625 and most likely (99.9% chance) they will be able to approve you, but it might require moving some credit from one card to another which is perfectly acceptable.

Does anyone know if this Chase card is churnable? I had this card previously, and canceled it in Nov of last year. Any change of getting the sign-up bonus again?
@Scott – Unfortunately, with chase card you cannot get the bonus for the exact same card. While this is the technical answer, some have been able to get around this by not including this BA number during the application process. This is by no means guaranteed, and I have not personally tried it.

I applied, and was rejected for, the secondary BA offer of 50,000 points/miles, or whatever. On calling the reconsideration folks, I explained my long relationship with Chase, having a checking account, and perfect record of NO LATES. The woman with whom I spoke was helpful in explaining I had been rejected because of having too many other Chase cards, one of which is a Southwest card with a HUGE limit of $1000, but offered to approve me by moving $5000 credit from another Chase card. So, I now have the BA Chase card. Next time around, I can offer to close the Southwest card to obtain what I want, should that problem arise.
