Southwest just launched a new promotion to motivate those traveling to use their Southwest Rapid Reward points. Just book a flight through Sept. 17 using your points and you’ll receive a 20% discount. This is for all flights flown through Oct. 31, 2020.

This is actually a great offer for those looking to book a flight over the next 6 weeks, especially since the amount of points redeemed is tied directly to the cost of the flight. Using Southwest points right now is also a good idea if you are hesitant about traveling since they have an extremely generous change and cancelation policy. If you end up needing to canceling, there are no fees charged at all and your points go straight back into your account. This is not a COVID-19 policy, but one that exists always.

When booking your flight, make sure to use code SAVE20NOW. When you search for your flight route, you’ll see the discount automatically applied.

Although I am a huge Southwest traveler, you will not find me in the air anytime soon — unfortunately. But, for those that are looking to book new Southwest travel, this is a great option. Also, if you already booked a flight with points, check to see if the amount needed to redeem a free flight has gone down. If so, you can cancel your flight and re-book with the lower number of points.
