I just returned from a week vacation with my family in Cancun and could not have planned my flight home more perfect. We flew JetBlue on this vacation since it is the only nonstop option between Cancun and Boston and prices (with points obviously!) were extremely reasonable.
Our flight departed Cancun on Sunday and if you recall, that was the same day as the Patriots vs. Jacksonville AFC game. Our flight departed at 2pm and at around 3pm we were back in U.S. airspace – right on time for the game. On international flights, DIRECTV does not work when you are over international waters or in an another country – although you do have access to movies throughout the entire time. While I did not really get to watch the game as my lap infant son preferred cartoons and throwing snacks all over the place, I heard yelling and screaming throughout the entire flight. It was actually quite fun to listen to. Of course my husband had no problem watching the game!
Our flight landed and there was a little over 4 minutes in the game. No one moved a muscle! Eyes were glued to the TV and no one wanted the flight to end! Fortunately, we sat on the runway for a tad longer then ideal, but no one seemed to mind! The Pats were down and everyone was cheering them on. And then, at 2:48 minutes left to go…. TOUCHDOWN.
And instead of the complaining you typically hear when you are sitting on the runway anxiously awaiting to get off the plane, all you could hear was clapping and yelling! The flight was probably 99% Bostonians!
Everyone got to watch the game to the very end and we all walked off the plane a few minutes later very happy. Timing could not have worked out better! Go Pats!
