The booking site for the international Star MegaDO 7 opens TOMORROW, Monday May 9th at 10am PST! Many of you are probably asking yourself, “What the heck is a MegaDO?” And it is totally understandable. Essentially this is an event partnered with Star Alliance giving you a behind-the-scenes travel opportunity. I attended the Star MegaDO 3 and had a great time. However, I will not be attending this MegaDO life has changed for me and I’ll have a 3 year old and 3 month old at home at the time.

It is a three day tour starting in Zurich, stopping in Hamburg and Mykonos and eventually ending in Athens. There will be inside tours, parties at night, and opportunities to fly cool planes and meeting airline CEO’s. You’ll meet other obsessed travel junkies, tour some cool air crafts, have some parties at night, meeting some airline CEO’s, and earn some points and miles. It is essentially a party on a plane. If you are looking for a quiet ride, this is probably not for you! You can check out the entire itinerary here that runs September 13-16.

While, it is a pretty steep cost for this event, there could potentially be some cool perks. All the partners will be giving out some sort of promotion for those attending. For starters, you’ll receive Star Alliance Gold Status and the opportunity to win hundreds of thousands of points and 5 years of Aegean Gold status. And since Starwood and Marriott are partners as well, both will have a promotion although not yet announced.

Price – these prices just include the chartered flight. You will still be responsible for paying for the nightly negotiated rate at the hotels and for the positioning flights to Zurich and home from Athens:

  • Business Class — $1,799 all in (front-cabin seating, blocked middle seat, upgraded champagne and premium drinks)
  • Exit Row — $1,299 all in (better legroom)
  • Economy Class — $999 all in

Yes, this is not a cheap trip. This is not advertised as some deal or anything, but one of those cool “once in a lifetime” opportunities – although for many this has been a “many times in a lifetime” trip. Assuming the least expensive costs, you will be paying $999 for the flight, let’s say another $1,000 to go to Zurich and home from Athens (if you are based in the US), and then $500 on hotels. This will bring you to a grand total of around $2,500 give or take. Now the good thing is that you really will not incur any other costs as food and activities are included.

Tickets will most likely go fast. You can book a seat and get all information on the megado booking site.

Are you thinking about going?! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
