Back in October I wrote about a new flight route from the US to Iceland and then continued service to Copenhagen and London. The route is being operated by WOW Air and is servicing flights from Boston and Baltimore. Last week there was actually another fare sale were some dates were as low as $99 each way! Still today you can easily find a reasonable low fare flight, which is pretty amazing. While no one has actually taken this route yet as service doesn’t start until March 27, 2015, they have seen amazing interest and have actually decided to enhance the service!
Last week I received an email from their PR firm stating:
“Air service to and from BWI will now begin May 8th, rather than June 4th, and while the seasonal service at BWI was originally slated to end October 24th, service will now be year-round. The airline will offer roundtrip service at BWI four days a week from May 8th through June 3rd, and five days a week thereafter. Bookings for the expanded service can now be made at www.wowair.com.”
I am glad to see that the airline is expanding their service and hopefully that will help keep low fares to Iceland. For those that do not live neither of these two airports, you can probably find relatively low cost fares on Southwest to Baltimore and using British Airways Avios points could be helpful to position yourself in Boston.
Hopefully we will see some more $99 fares over the coming months. I am personally kicking myself in the a$$ for not booking the cheap fares when they came out, but I just wan’t able to lock down a date. Just remember though, there are a decent amount of add on fees on this low cost carrier, so pack light!
