Wyndham 15,000 Point Rooms Across the Board

Last month Wyndham announced that they would be setting a fixed number of points for free night redemptions at ALL hotels. Well that day has come and all hotels are now 15,000 points per night – is does not matter if it is a Super 8 or a Wyndham Grand Resort. I am personally sitting on a lot of Wyndham points, so being able to get a luxurious property for only 15,000 points is great!

Wyndham RewardsWhile this is an overall devaluation for the program as there were more hotels that required less than 15,000 points than those that required more than 15,000 points, I like being able to redeem my Wyndham points for the higher award categories anyways. Typically those low level awards are very inexpensive anyways or at properties I wouldn’t want to stay at, so being able to redeem for a free night at a nice hotel for less points is more beneficial for me.

The great thing about this is that the 15,000 fixed rate is available at ALL Wyndham properties. It does not seem that hotels were able to opt out, so even the Wyndham Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach in Kauai is pricing out at 15,000 points a night! Even a 2-bedroom at this hotel (which is 2,000 square feet!) is pricing out at 15,000 points/night. No idea if this is a mistake, but I suggest making your reservation NOW!

Availability is not capacity controlled, but can sell out, so you can always make a reservation now and cancel later. Wyndham Rewards will also not allow you to book a hotel with points if you do not have enough points in your account. I’ll be putting together a post on the various ways to earn Wyndham points (hint: there aren’t many ways!). I’ll also put together a post with the more “luxurious” Wyndham properties across the globe.

They also implemented a Cash + Points redemption and I will post about that later today, I just have to do a little research first to figure out how the “Cash” portion is pricing out. The points portion is a fixed 3,000 points per night. You’ll also earn a minimum of 1,000 points per night on a paid stay which is nice.

Overall, I am excited for this update to the program. This will now get me about 13 free nights at any high end property. Now, I just need to figure out where to go! Any recommendations?!

Please keep in mind that the Koloa Landing is in the midst of HUGE expansion. I have stayed there a few times (when it was 30000) points and I love this location. But right now the construction has made a huge impact on the comfort of guests. (see TripAdvisor) reviews. Personally at 15,000 points I would put up with the construction because we love the property to much!

I had a hard time finding any dates at 15,000 pts this year but saw a bunch next year. I am actually going to be on Kauai in a few weeks and had thought about switching to this property once the new awards came out….but they show no availability during my visit. They have rooms left, so it must be capacity controlled….

Thanks for post – just got my first card

What about the all inclusive properties – if I book a DR or the Playa del Carmen property – does the 15k include the all in for everyone staying in the room – we have three kids

They tentatively told me yes over the phone, but…

Thanks for the reply – this is an unbelievable deal to pay only 15k per night and get all in

Even if I can get connecting rooms and pay for some of it, what a deal!

I have found over the last few years, since we have had out third, if I call the hotel or email with the GM they usually make an exception and let the third in – but not everytime!
