Hilton and Lyft just announced a new partnership where you’ll now be able to earn Hilton Honor points with every Lyft ride you take. Best of all, you do not even have to be staying at a Hilton property! Just link your two accounts and you’ll earn:
- 3 points per dollar spent on Lyft rides
- 2 points per dollar spent on Lyft shared rides
*Earn Hilton points with Lyft rides up to $10,000 Lyft spend per year.
Due to the $10k limit, this means you can earn up to 30,000 Hilton Honor points a year, although I am sure most won’t come even close to earning that amount. While this won’t earn you a free room in the Maldives any extra “free” points is always a win in my book.
Once you complete your ride, you’ll see the Hilton bonus points earned in your Hilton Honors account. This is also a great way to help extend your miles from expiring.
They also announced that later this year you’ll be able to redeem Hilton Honor points for Lyft ride, but my gut tells me this will be a poor redemption value. Typically, redeeming your Hilton points, or really any hotel points for that matter, other than free hotel stays is not a great usage of your points. But of course if you are points rich, this might be a good way to burn your points. We will just have to analyze the value once it is announced.
Overall…
I am personally a fan for any partnership that allows you to earn points for something you were already going to do. Lyft also has partnerships with Delta and JetBlue, so not only will you be earning Hilton points, you’ll also be able to earn airline miles. With Delta you’ll earn 1 mile per dollar spent (2x if it is an airport ride) and with JetBlue you’ll earn 30 points per ride.

I have a Hilton American Express that I get 3 points on anything I buy, plus 6 points on any dollar I spend on restaurants, gas stations & grocery stores. If I put Lyft on this credit card, I will get 3 points automatically.
