Black Friday is almost here and for many shoppers, Amazon serves as a one-stop-shop when it comes to Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. With so many deals to be had, we’ve gone ahead and put together the ultimate guide to prepare for this week+ long money saving event, especially since Amazon started many of their Black Friday deals early. On top of the great deals, you’ll want to make sure to stack your savings with many other opportunities that appear. In past years, we’ve seen discounts simply from ordering through Alexa, using various credits and applying just a single credit card point.

How to Get Amazon Prime

You absolutely do not need Amazon Prime to shop at Amazon, but some deals will be limited to those with a prime membership. You’ll also receive free shipping, where some items will only ship for free if you meet a certain spend threshold. If you do not have a Prime membership, your best bet is to sign up for a free trial as it will give you 30 days of free prime access.

However, if you want to purchase a full membership, there are a few days to get a discount off of the normal $119 yearly cost. Or, if you happen to have a student e-mail address, you can get an Student Amazon Prime membership for half price or a free 6-month trial membership. There is also a good chance that we will see a Black Friday deal on membership — like we did last year.

Watch an Amazon Prime Video, get $5 to Amazon
a blue and white card with a white rectangular object on it

This is quite possibly the easiest credit you can earn. Simply watch a Prime Video — which is free with an Amazon Prime membership — and you’ll earn a $5 credit to use towards your holiday purchase. Your credit actually doesn’t expire for 14 days.

Spend $10 through the Amazon app, get up to $20 to Amazon

Instead of purchasing through your computer, use the Amazon app to make your next purchase and you’ll receive a promotion code to get $10 off your next $20 purchase. This is valid for purchases made through the end of the year — Dec. 31, 2020 — and you have until Jan. 15, 2021 to use the promotion credits. You are also able to get up to two $10 off promotional codes for a total of $20 in savings. This is a targeted offer, so you’ll have to check this link to see if you are eligible.
Add $30 to Amazon Cash, earn $5 in credits

Just add $30 to your Amazon Cash account and you’ll earn $5 in credits. This promotion is limited to new users and the promotional credit expires November 30, 2020.

Save money with Amex Offers

If you have an American Express credit card, check the Amex Offer section in your account to see if you are eligible for two different Amazon offer. Unfortunately these are targeted, but if you are eligible, make sure to add them to your account prior to making your purchase.

Right now, there is an offer where you can earn 8x points on all purchases at Amazon.com. With this promotion, you are capped up to 3,000 bonus points — which means $375 in spend. With Membership Reward points being worth approximately 2 cents apiece, this means you can earn up to $60 in value towards travel at a future time.

Even if you are not taking advantage of any of the next few weeks Amazon Black Friday or Cyber Monday offers, you can still earn 8x points on Amazon gift cards or any other third-party gift cards sold by Amazon.

Save money with your credit card points

Simply by using just 1 credit card point with your respective credit card, you can receive a decent savings. There are many offers that pop up throughout the year and here are all of the current offers available. Keep in mind that they are all targeted offers and you must connect your credit card to your American Express account to be eligible.

Tip: Only use a single point as you do not receive the best value when redeeming your points with Amazon. If you do not have anything to purchase at Amazon, you can always purchase a third-party merchant gift card which will trigger the savings.
